On behalf of the board of Directors, staff and entire student’s body, I extend warm greetings to you our parents. Let me thank God for the gift of life and blessings He has bestowed on us. My heart goes to those who lost their beloved ones and those who encountered challenges and I pray that God supports you. Dear parents, thank you for the support you have given your sons and daughters. We treasure you. COURSES AVAILABLE We have Diploma courses in Clinical Medicine, Public Health Dentistry, Medical Laboratory Technology, and Pharmacy. We also have Certificate courses in Medical Laboratory Technology, Pharmacy and Health Records Management. We also have non-medical Courses Examined by UBTEB including Records and information Management, Secretarial and Information Management, Business Administration and others. The International School of Nursing and Midwifery is offering certificate courses and the June- July 2023 in-take is on. We advise parents to get more information from our website www.paramedicalinstitute.org. ACHIEVEMENTS I am happy to report the achievements below. 1. We have completed semester examinations successfully. I congratulate Finalists: Certificate in Medical Laboratory Technology, Certificate in Pharmacy and Certificate in Medical records and Health Informatics, upon completion of their courses. 2. We participated in the Wakiso Regional Health Institutions games at Bugema Adventist University between 16-19 August2022.Football, Net ball and Volley ball teams and qualified for National Competitions which will take place next year. 3. The Institute hosted the Bishop of Central Buganda for conformation of over 400 students from within and neighboring schools. He also commissioned the Maama Getrude Kulabako Hostel for the female students. 4. Addarain Charity organization In Uganda has constructed a mosque for our students. I thank the above organization and in a special way appreciate the Director for offering the land. 5. A four storage multipurpose building and perimeter wall has been constructed. 6. The Institute Bus acquired recently will make transportation of students to placement centers very convenient and easy. 7. The Institute has constructed permanent attachment Hostels at practicum centre’s to accommodate our students while on placement. The above were possible due to your support and efforts of our Directors. May the lord reward you. ACADEMICS The Uganda Allied Health Examinations Board (UAHEB) exams for year one semester one, Year One semester two, Year two semesters two and Year three semester one 2021-2022 and 2022-2023 started on Monday 5th June 2023 and ended on Tuesday 20th June 2022. I thank the Director, Staff, Guild Council and students towards achieving school objectives. DISCIPLINE We have maintained discipline as cardinal requirement at the school and we encourage Parents to counsel your sons and daughters to always be disciplined. Try to understand your children. ATTENDANCE Attendance to lectures, practical’s and clinical placements is critical in training. Students without satisfactory attendance are not registered for UAHEB Examinations. Ensure your Sons/daughter doesn’t miss attending especially as the semester starts. Parents are advised to encourage their children report early for classes to avoid disorganizing school academic programs. BURSARY A bursary offer is to provide opportunity to a student to achieve his/her dream in life. It must be sustained by normal academic progress and exemplary discipline. This is a reminder that getting a retake or involvement into an act of indiscipline automatically disqualifies a student from a bursary schemes. RETAKES: Students on probational progress due to retakes are expected to attend all lectures, do course works and assessments in the course units to retake. The school management will not allow retakers who do not attend lectures to sit examinations. Secondly, a student with a retake will pick a form, fill it and return it to the Registrar in the first week of the semester when the retake is to be sat and failure to fill this form will mean no retake. HOSPITAL PLACEMENT All our students went for clinical placement for attachments in Hospitals lasting for 4 weeks in Masaka Regional referral Hospital, Mubende referral Hospital, Gombe Hospital, Mpigi Health Centre IV, Mityana hospital, Kasangati Health Centre IV, Wakiso Health Centre IV and Namayumba Health centre IV. Gratitude goes to Heads and staff of these Centre’s for their support and guidance they provided to our students during this exercise. GRADUATION We intend to organize a graduation ceremony as soon as results are released by UAHEB. Students will pick a graduation form from school and will be required to clear from all departments before Graduation to ensure that they are not owed by any school material including requirements and Tuition. I strongly believe in you being health practioners you are unique in that, regardless of your chosen area of specialty, all of you have the opportunity to enrich the lives of those around you. As you embark upon and progress through your careers, I implore you to remember always the rationale for the choices you dreams come to reality: to serve our communities and improve the quality of life and health of its mem- bers with love, empathy, honesty, transparency and integrity.
